A centre of excellence for engineering services

With unrivalled workshop facilities located across the North-West of the UK, RJW Engineering is a well-established business, built on tradition but firmly focused on engineering services of the future.

Built on tradition... focused on the future

RJW Engineering can trace its roots back to 1946, to the original engineering company called Rewinds. In those days, the core business was ship repairs. By the 1960’s the business had refocused from shipping to land-based industrial repairs. A series of pioneering moves followed, including acquisitions and diversifications. Today RJW Engineering is one the largest and most respected independently owned engineering services companies in the UK.

1946
'Rewinds' is founded by J.I. Windsor. The core business was ship repairs.

1968
Wallasey works open, specialising in dynamic balancing & batch winding of electric motors.

1972
Following a compulsory purchase order of its old site, RJW moves to its current site in Liverpool

1981
RJW purchases land adjacent to its Liverpool site. A new building was developed and became a fabrication shop accommodating large machinery.

1988
RJW becomes one of the first companies of its type to get BS5750 (now ISO9000)

1991
RJW opens its Permanent Magnet (PM) Department, for servo motors and industrial electronics repair

1999
RJW acquires CH Rewinds and George Platt, creating a site presence in Manchester

2021
RJW establishes Reliability Department focusing on data-driven digital maintenance, and becomes a 21st century engineering business
