Wind Turbine Generator Repair

With wind turbines located in typically remote locations and with the associated difficulty in removing and replacing generators, the need for the highest possible level of quality and reliability is essential. RJW has specifically written wind turbine generator repair procedures specially designed to minimise the risk of failure.

Wind Turbine Generator Repair

At RJW we recognise the importance of this and have invested in the very latest repair and test equipment to ensure that every aspect of the generator is inspected during the repair procedure with the sole purpose of minimising the chance of unexpected failure.

In addition to the investment in facilities and training we have developed our own dedicated wind turbine generator repair procedure specifically for this type of unit in order to prove reliability and quality of repair enabling trouble installation and use once the generators return to site.

With dynamic test facilities for generators up to 3MW and comprehensive static test equipment we are able to guarantee the future performance of the generators. The specially developed test rig has been built to dynamically test generators following repair, enabling the measurement of electrical and mechanical performance prior to installation, recording stator and rotor winding conformity as well as vibration data under a variety of running conditions.

During the wind turbine generator repair process the condition of the winding and core of both the rotor and stator are recorded using the best winding and core loss equipment available. This is backed up with thermographic analysis of the core to ensure a lack of hotspots within the core that could compromise efficiency and reduce the service life of the generator.
